Given the economic importance of the resource and growing concerns about industry’s
use of and impact on water, this report examines the implications of shale gas production on Canada’s water supplies. In addition to reviewing the technological drivers of the shale gas revolution, the report also looks at the state of groundwater mapping in shale rich regions. Lastly, it reviews the adequacy of existing regulatory frameworks to protect water resources, landowners and rural communities.
