Letter from Council of Scientific Society Presidents

This letter represents the leadership of over 1.4 million scientists in over 150 scientific disciplines. It advocates the need to develop a comprehensive energy policy guided by the best available science to greatly reduce GHG emissions. It finds the environmental impact studies and EPA determinations surrounding some energy bridges either absent or inadequate. The production of natural gas from shales is suggested to be an example where policy has preceded adequate science.
