PSE's Shonkoff and DiGiulio Testify at House Subcommittee Hearings
PSE’s director, Seth Shonkoff, PhD, and Dominic DiGiulio, PhD, a senior scientist, both presented testimony in Washington D.C. before the House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources, a Natural Resources Subcommittee. The proceedings were part of a series of Congressional hearings on the impacts of oil and gas development.
Impacts of Water Pollution Above and Below Ground
Dr. DiGiulio presented expert testimony on May 16, 2019 at a hearing focused on water pollution — the second hearing in the series. He discussed his research on the risks of both surface water and groundwater contamination from oil and gas development, the diversity and relative stringency of current regulatory frameworks aimed to protect water resources, and other relevant PSE research.

Impacts of Business-as-Usual on the Climate and Public Health
Dr. Seth Shonkoff testified on July 16, 2019 in a hearing focused on climate change and public health — the fourth in the series of hearings probing the impacts of oil and gas development. Dr. Shonkoff discussed the state of the science pertaining to the risks to public health, water quality and air quality from oil and gas development, and risks to the climate from increasing greenhouse gas emissions.
