The clean energy transition is rapidly changing how we produce, deliver, and use energy. Decisions made today across energy, buildings, and transportation will shape household costs, public health, resilience, and climate change outcomes for decades. Yet these impacts are rarely considered together, as most decisions are assessed through a single lens, such as climate, affordability, or health. This approach obscures trade-offs and opportunities to improve outcomes across sectors.
PSE’s Energy Transition Benefits Initiative (ETBI) builds on PSE’s extensive work in energy impact modeling and climate resilience assessment to identify clean energy pathways that decarbonize the energy system while maximizing the benefits people experience most directly: cleaner air, better health, lower energy costs, and greater climate and energy resilience.
ETBI combines interdisciplinary research, modeling, data tools, and community engagement to identify where benefits align, where trade-offs exist, and how different energy choices affect people and communities. With tools like our Community Energy Impacts Model (CEIM), launching in February 2027, we are working to provide decision-makers and key stakeholders with the data and analysis they need to understand how energy system decisions can improve people’s lives across multiple dimensions while protecting the environment we all depend on.
