Dr. Kelsey Bilsback is a Principal Scientist at PSE Healthy Energy. She leads the Methane + Health Initiative, an integrated platform that generates scientific evidence, develops analytical tools, and supports evidence-based decision-making to better understand the health risks of methane-associated toxic air pollutants across the oil and gas supply chain.
She is the Principal Investigator of the Methane Risk Map, the first publicly available tool to estimate and visualize the air quality impacts and human health risks associated with oil and gas methane super-emitter events. Her work provides the field with scientific evidence to better understand the health implications of methane emissions.
Prior to joining PSE, Dr. Bilsback was a postdoctoral researcher in atmospheric science at Colorado State University, where she used atmospheric models to assess the air quality, health, and climate impacts of energy and transportation policies. Her doctoral research focused on the chemical and physical composition of emissions of solid-fuel cookstoves. She conducted laboratory and international field campaigns across Asia, Africa, and Central America to characterize pollutants that affect both human health and climate. Dr. Bilsback has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University and a BA in Physics from Boston University.
