Bringing Science to Communities
PSE’s Community Consulting Center is dedicated to bringing energy science to communities. Working directly with The Center, communities can access technical expertise and analysis on the energy and climate issues they care about most—from local demographic trends in energy reliability, to the impacts of local energy infrastructure on public health.
Our Process
Our process is designed to provide communities with access to applied research that is timely, locally-relevant, and easy-to-understand. Our staff specialize in working collaboratively with community stakeholders to identify research questions of local concern. Once a core research question is defined, PSE scientists design research projects to incorporate the best-available data and leverage our team’s expertise. Research questions are based on a range of factors, including our scientific expertise, the availability of relevant data, and the potential for impact.
Understand
Every project begins with in-depth interviews to ensure our scientists have a holistic understanding of our partner’s experience.
Identify
Based on these conversations, we identify research questions with the greatest potential for impact.
Implement
After outlining the project scope and deliverables, our team implements the research process.
Disseminate
Once research is complete, our team shares their findings in clear and actionable formats like issue briefs, presentations, expert testimony, and data visualization.
