Dr. Susan E. Barrett is a philanthropy strategist and nonprofit leader with expertise in fund development, capital campaigns, and institutional partnerships across public health, higher education, and the social sector.
With a career built at the intersection of strategy, philanthropy, and impact, Susan has served as Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Vice President of Corporate & Foundation Relations, Senior Business Development Specialist, and fundraising consultant, consistently growing philanthropic revenue and deepening donor engagement across the organizations she has served.
At PSE, she leads development strategy, connecting rigorous science to climate and energy policy for a healthier, more sustainable world.
Susan is also the author of Beyond the Org Chart: Fractional Fundraising for the New Nonprofit Era (2025).
She holds an EdD in Education, dual master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, and the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) designation.
