Dr. Mebust is an environmental scientist and policy leader with broad experience spanning air quality, energy, and climate. At PSE Healthy Energy, she helps guide program strategy and operations to advance science that informs policies protecting public health and the environment.
Before joining PSE, Dr. Mebust served for nearly a decade with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Region 9 office, holding a range of technical, managerial, and operational roles. Most recently, she served as senior advisor to the region’s top executive, leading strategic planning and workforce initiatives, and coordinating the senior leadership team. Her prior work at EPA included supervising teams in air permitting and watershed management, leading in air quality monitoring and wildfire and prescribed fire policy, and supporting regional communications and operations.
Her prior roles include supporting implementation of California’s Greenhouse Gas Cap-and-Trade Program at the California Air Resources Board and serving as a congressional fellow in Senator Bernie Sanders’ office through the AAAS Science Policy Fellowship Program.
Dr. Mebust earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, where her research focused on quantifying pollutant emissions from wildfires using satellite data, and her B.A. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Pomona College.
