Improving Soil-Gas Sampling Methods

Category: Presentations

Overview

On June 21, 2017, Senior Scientist Dominic DiGiulio, PhD, gave a presentation at the Transatlantic Knowledge Sharing Conference on Unconventional Hydrocarbons in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

DiGiulio’s presentation, titled Quality Assurance and Control Procedures to Improve Soil-Gas Sampling Methods in Stray Gas Investigations, looks at improving leak detection in a soil-gas sampling train to better evaluate the subsurface migration of natural gas to the surface and to inhabited structures. This work will lead to improved estimation of greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere from oil and gas development and better prevention of explosions from natural gas leaks.
