Integrating Health and Equity in Utility Planning

Integrated resource planning (IRP) is required by 28 states to ensure that utilities adequately prepare for future electricity needs. Through a series of reports and expert testimony, we are providing IRP stakeholders with scientific metrics to evaluate the broader societal and environmental implications of utility plans. Learn more about our work integrating health and equity into utility planning.

Richmond Air Monitoring Network

PSE’s collaborative Richmond Air Monitoring Network has now collected over two years of air pollution data from California’s San Pablo-Richmond neighborhoods. PSE scientists Dr. Lukanov, Karan Shetty, and Audrey Smith presented preliminary findings from the project at the UC Davis Air Sensors International Conference in Pasadena, California.

Review of Health Research on Wildfire and Prescribed Fire Smoke

In response to increasing risk, frequency, and intensity of wildfires, regions throughout the country are seeking to expand the use of prescribed fire. In this report, PSE researchers reviewed and summarized existing research on the air quality and human health impacts of wildfire and prescribed fire.
